How To Crush Your First Home Purchase
Buying your first home can be an exciting, but also a little scary.
You want to crush your first home purchase, but it’s easy to let some of the little details slip through the cracks.
After working with first-time homebuyers for 30 years I’ve seen just about everything when it comes to the home buying process.
Here are 3 ways to crush your first home purchase:
Crush Your First
Home Purchase
If you’re thinking about buying your first home, you’re probably getting super antsy because you were looking before the COVID crisis, and now you’ve been cooped up in your apartment, or your parents’ house, or wherever you’re at, and all you can think about is owning your own home.
Take this time to crush your first home purchase.
I think that’s awesome that you looking to buy your first home. I remember when my wife and I bought our first home, it’s a really great thing.
I want to share with you three mistakes that I see a lot of first-time homebuyers make.
I don’t want you to make the same mistakes on your journey to homeownership.
1) Real Estate Agent
Not all real estate agents were created equal.
Get a good real estate agent. Ask around. Do not try to do it yourself. That’s a classic rookie mistake. Especially if you’re buying, because you’re not paying the commission on that.
The commission on the purchase comes out of the seller’s pocket.
So get a good real estate agent. Get someone who’s going to show you around, who’s going to point stuff out, who’s going to help you better understand a home’s makeup, the neighborhood, the school district, other problems that may have been in that neighborhood.
2) Mortgage Broker
All mortgage officers are not created equal.
Some mortgage brokers, some loan originators can get you great deals.
They can be creative and find ways to help you get what you need, get a good rate. And some are just going to push you through their algorithm, and that’s what you get.
You want the first one.
There are absolutely mortgage brokers with more options and access to rates and loan programs that help you get into the house of your dreams.
3) Home Insurance Agent
Not all homeowners insurance carriers are created equal.
There are many coverages that a lot of agents just don’t even offer because they’re scared to sell them.
They’re scared to talk to you about them. They just want to give you a low price so that you’ll buy from them and they can move on to the next policy.
When it comes to your homeowners’ insurance, this is not what you want. The last thing in the world you want is to buy a new home, have something terrible happen, and then have to come out of your pocket because you didn’t buy homeowners’ insurance that would cover that particular risk.
